Cookies are sometimes preferred over line arrows for setting up circuits because a directional marker on the line could be misinterpreted as pointing away from the closest exit.

The Cookie Marker is 5.5cm which is ample size without taking up too much space

Non-directional plain line cookies are used to mark specific place on the line, but do not give directional information.
