Our confined water training, commonly called pool sessions, are completed at Queens Leisure Centre in Derby (DE1 3PA) between 8:30-9.30pm on Thursday evenings. The pool has shallow and deep ends and is large enough for you to practice properly before your open water dives. You will need to bring a pen, swimsuit, towel and £1 for the locker or your own padlock. You must be reasonably fit, be able to swim 200 metres and tread water/survival float for 10 minutes. You will also need to complete a self-certification medical questionnaire which will determine if you require a medical from your doctor.
For safety your pool training is conducted in water depths of 1.2 to 2.1 metres, this makes the transition to your open water dive site easy, as your first two dives will be no deeper than about 6 metres.
Our open water training is normally held at Stoney Cove in Leicester (LE9 4DW). This famous inland dive site is just forty minutes from Go Dive and has great facilities for training. Weekend sessions begin at 7:30 am and normally finish by 2 pm. The entry fee is £22 per day, payable to Stoney Cove on arrival.
